Tuscaloosa Pastor of the Week: Pastor Ulysses Lewis
Praise 93.3 & & 790 WTSK salutes Pastor Ulysses Lewis of the Piney Grove Missionary Baptist Church as our Tuscaloosa Pastor of the Week. Pastor Lewis has lead his congregation and has assisted the community in childcare services, census promotion and community services. Pastor Lewis has been pastoring Piney Grove almost 30 years.
Pastor Ulysses Lewis began as pastor of the Piney Grove Missionary Baptist Church on July 5, 1992. He was educated in the Tuscaloosa County School System where he graduated from Holt High School. He also attended Tuscaloosa Trade School and Selma University. He served as Assistant Pastor of the Friendship Baptist Church under Dr. Reverend Myron Hamner, Sr., where he was Member, Director of the Youth Church, Minister of Education, Director of the Vacation Bible School, Brotherhood Instructor, Sunday School Teacher, Bible Study Instructor, and Spiritual Advisor.
He was a former member of the Morning Star Baptist Church where the late Dr. John H. Spencer was pastor. There he served as Associate Minister, member of the Young Adult Choir, and Assistant Superintendent of Sunday School. He is also a member of the Peaceful Lodge No. 178-A.
Reverend Lewis was married to the late Ava D. Mills Lewis. They became the proud parents of three lovely children, Telana, Christie, and Monica. In February of 1992, God smiled on him again. He was united in the bond of Holy Matrimony to the Former LaSandra Turner who also is a native of Tuscaloosa. She graduated from Druid High School and Alabama State University. They were blessed with a daughter, Tamara. In 2006, they were blessed with a son-in-law, Justin Mills who married Christie. Now, they have been blessed with three grandchildren: Jada A. Mills, Justin S. Mills Jr. and Princeton Lewis.
