Tuscaloosa Gospel Artist Spotlight: Blest By Four

Tuscaloosa has many gospel talents and this week we feature one of the premiere groups of the area. This week we feature Blest By Four.

Blest By Four is a traditional quartet group compromised of brothers and a sister from Duncanville, Alabama right outside Tuscaloosa. The group is compromised of Demetrius Smith known as “Dodie”, Felicia “Pooh” Smith-Polion, Terrence “Beauty” Smith Sr., and Marcus Smith. The are siblings were raised in the church and began singing as children. They are now singing locally, regionally and nationally and have opened and graced platforms across the United States.

The group started out as The Spiritualaires of Duncanville before changing to Blest By Four. The family group has progressed greatly over the years and they have really impressed me and many others with their unique style, vocal ability and even their wardrobe.

Their first national release was released in 2004, entitled "Pressing On" off of the Humility Music Group from Glen Stevenson which produced great hits such as "Blessed", "Soon", "Shower Down" and "It Must Be Love" The project hit radio hard.

The second release was "Just Like Fire" released in 2012 features powerful hits "Keep On Using Me", the long ballad "The Lord Is Blessing Me", "It's In The Praise" and it truly captures the powerful vocals of the group. Their third project dropped in 2018 named "Satisfied Mind" that includes the hits " Revive Us Again", "I Need Your Help" and "He Always By My Side"

The group is also known annually in Tuscaloosa for hosting "Bama Blast" normally held on Mother's Day at the Bama Theater and churches attracting hundreds of people to see them and legendary quartet groups from around the nation. In 2020, the event was held at Cornerstone Full Gospel Baptist Church in a virtual format due to the pandemic.
