Monday, August 26 is National Women’s Equality Day!

This day honors the adoption of the Nineteenth Amendment to the US Constitution, which prohibits states and the federal government from denying women the right to vote.

Nice for women to be given the right to vote, but did that really amount to equality?

If we’re really honest with ourselves, do we really want equality?

I mean, I’m all for being paid the same as my male counterparts and having my voice heard as it pertains to issues which will affect my life.  But at the same time, I enjoy some of the perks that come with being a lady.

I like my “Ladies Day” discount at the oil change center just like I enjoy getting into nightclubs free before 11. I like being able to come into a room late and still have a seat because a gentleman offered his. I like being able to spend $32 on an outfit and accessories and look like I spent $100.

Of course, it’s nice to have gained the right to vote; but they should have called it something else. I don’t want to be equal.
