Though it's often used for pain management, addiction to opioids  is a serious issue in Alabama, one which warrants healthcare professionals to obtain proper training in every aspect of dealing with opioids.

The Auburn University Harrison School of Pharmacy in conjunction with the Alabama Department of Mental Health invites healthcare professionals to the Opioid Training Institute. This event will take place at the Bryant Conference Center on the University of Alabama campus on September 18.

Alabama is facing a complex public health crisis and continues to have one of the highest opioid prescribing rates in the country. Combating the crisis involves understanding how it transpired, recognizing contributing factors, and targeting key areas with education and training.

The Alabama Opioid Training Institute, a collaboration between the Auburn University Harrison School of Pharmacy and the Alabama Department of Mental Health, invites health care professionals to be a part of the solution by attending this free training program. Continuing education credit is available.

OTI programs are intended to provide medical professionals with the knowledge needed to assist with prevention of new Opioid Use Disorder instances.
