Are The Best Things In Life Free? Yes or No?

An old saying that I used to hear as I was growing up said, "The best things in life are free." Perhaps there is some truth in that saying. However, there are some who believe that the best things in life are expensive or elusive.  Recently I was driving along and saw a sign that really gave me a laugh. It said, "The best things in life are not things." The value of family, friends, and your faith points us to the realization that what matters most in life is all wrapped up in the Lord and people.

Solomon in (1 Kings 10:23) was well qualified to speak about material things because he "surpassed all the kings of the earth in riches and wisdom" What was his advice? "Do not over-work to be rich; because of your own understanding, stop! Will you set your eyes on that which is not? For riches certainly make themselves wings; they seem to fly away like an eagle toward heaven" (Prov. 23:4-5).

It has occurred to me that there are a few ideas that you can incorporate into your life that cost absolutely nothing or very little! Times like these remind me that enjoying the little things in life that are free can in fact be the best things in life. below are a few of those things that came to my mind.

1. Celebrate the Sunrise - that's a start!
2. Plan your life under the stars
3. Be creative - Play Charades
4. Long walks exploring nature
5. Shopping on a budget - Window shopping
6. Free Will is available to everyone

It appears to me that the best things in this life are the eternal riches that some from God's goodness and grace in Jesus Christ. We do not hold them in our hands, but in our hearts.
