With the potential for rain and thunderstorms over the next 24 hours, some wet weather could be in store for the Insane Inflatable 5K sponsored by McDonald's. We're going to take a glass half full approach since the forecast is calling for a 50% chance of rain, but we want you to be prepared just in case.

The first and most important thing to know is that the event will go on through the rain. Unless there's lightning or other severe weather in the area, you'll just get to enjoy an obstacle course that has the added challenge of being slippery!

So how should you prepare for wet conditions? We've consulted the experienced planning team with the Insane Inflatable 5K and they've provided us with these tips:

  • Wear shoes that you don't mind getting muddy.
  • Bring a post-race change of clothes. At the minimum, bring an extra pair of socks and shoes so you don't have wet feet for the ride home.
  • Consider wearing a light rain jacket or rain pants to help keep you dry.
  • Bring a towel that you can leave in your car and use after.

If we do get severe conditions, runners will be asked to take shelter in their vehicles or other designated areas. Delays would just push the wave times back through the day but the event will do its best to get everyone on the course as close to their time as possible.

As you saw when you signed up, the event is non-refundable in the event of horrible weather the entire day. Thankfully, the forecast isn't calling for that. We're looking forward to seeing everyone out at the race tomorrow for an exciting day filled with running, bouncing, slipping and sliding.
