The Power Source
Reading: Ezra 8:21-23
There, by the Ahava Canal, I proclaimed a fast, so that we might humble ourselves before our God and ask him for a safe journey for us and our children, with all our possessions.
I was ashamed to ask the king for soldiers and horsemen to protect us from enemies on the road, because we had told the king, "The gracious hand of our God is on everyone who looks to him, but his great anger is against all who forsake him."
So we fasted and petitioned our God about this, and he answered our prayer.
Ezra had impressive financial and human resources as he set out for Jerusalem. But took time to draw on the only resource that brings success in God's work.
Christmas season is here and we plugged ourselves into so many things such as gifts, food, work, family, shopping and so much more.  But have we really plugged into the true meaning of Christmas? Plug into the baby in the manger whose sole purpose was to be born to save the world and bring hope. We need that hope more than ever especially during the holidays in the midst of one the most difficult pandemics in modern history.
Stop! Read over these verses again. Before you go out your door each morning, follow Ezra's example and, in some way get in touch with God. Every Christian is under the Great Commission and Great Commandment, and needs to draw on God's power before going into the world to represent Him. Connect with the power source this holiday season!
