Right now, as far as movies for urban audiences go, Black Panther is making a lot of noise, and one local comic store is getting on board.

Saturday, February 17, artists Geoffrey Gwin and Rick Johnson will visit Sho’Nuff Comics (618 15th St; Tuscaloosa, AL 35401), showcasing their art and company.

According to his website, maddprops.com, Gwin is a fine arts/comic artist who loves pop culture and sci-fi.

Artist Rick Johnson is said to have a unique style, which makes him stand out from the pack.

While art is not uncommon in the Black community, it's not often that we see ourselves in comic books. So, knowing that there is not only a movie coming but also that there are Black artists who specialize in the genre is welcoming.

Sho'Nuff Comics, a full service comic book store, is open Saturdays from 11:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. According to the store's website, it offers discount comic subscription services as well as monthly specials.  The store also carries new and vintage comics, kids comics, graphic novels, statues, toys, posters, and shirts.
