The Tuscaloosa City Board of Education amended the procedure for filling vacant school board positions. This was done in a called meeting Monday.

These changes were necessary because of the death of longtime board member James Minyard.  James Minyard was on the board longer than any current member. The changes make the policy less specific about how a board member can leave the board before their term is fulfilled.

The board will start accepting applications today for the vacant District 1 seat James Minyard left behind.

All who apply must legally reside in District 1.  They must also submit a resume and a letter of interest Superintendent Paul McKendrick and the Tuscaloosa City Board of Education. The board is at 1210 21st Ave., Tuscaloosa, AL 35401
