The Tuscaloosa Park and Recreation Authority has teamed up with the Atlanta Braves to help grow the game of baseball.

The Druid City Youth Baseball League is in its second year. The league was created to continue the growth of baseball in Tuscaloosa with help from the Benjamin Barnes Branch YMCA.

According to a release from PARA, Jay Logan, the director of community outreach, athletics, and PARA4life programs, was elated to partner with the Braves:

“We are extremely excited about the affiliation and credibility the Atlanta Braves RBI program brings to our league," Logan went on to say, "What better organization to help spearhead baseball than the World Champion Atlanta Braves and PARA. The entire Braves organization has been great to work with, and to become an affiliate speaks to the commitment the Braves have for reviving youth baseball in under resourced areas.”

Danielle Bedasse, Braves senior director of community affairs and executive director, of the Atlanta Braves Foundation, was also excited about the partnership:

“We are thrilled to welcome Tuscaloosa County Park & Recreation Authority as a Braves RBI Affiliate," Bedasse said, "This program is intended to bring resources and support to organizations providing accessible opportunities to baseball and softball across Braves Country. We are grateful for this partnership, and for the kids that will experience the game we so love.”

The press release states that to become an affiliate, "leagues are required to meet a certain criterion and make a commitment to help grow the game by reducing cost for participants, providing quality coaching, and promoting a positive, healthy environment for gameplay."
