Flesh Eating Bacteria Sends Alabama Woman To Hospital
One minute, it’s an uptick in viruses like COVID-19 and other respiratory viruses, with schools back in session, affecting West Alabama.

Now we find out about an even more frightening situation that sent an Alabama woman to the hospital.
A young woman who thought she was having a fun holiday celebration down in Orange Beach ended up dealing with something terrifying for anyone.
A very rare flesh-eating bacteria that can seriously harm humans wound up attacking this young woman in Baldwin County.
Her name is Summerlin Skipworth, and according to WKRG, she was with a group of friends and family during a boat day meant to be relaxing and fun for Skipworth.
While on the boat ride, she fell out and ended up stepping on some rocks that she instantly knew were very painful.
Over the next few days, she tried to live her life normally, but that’s when a coworker noticed that something was definitely off.
She went to see an urgent care doctor, who confirmed that her foot was definitely infected, and it seemed to be spreading.
Like you might expect, doctors ordered antibiotics and told her to monitor the situation over the next 24 hours.
That’s when things went from bad to worse, and she was in a tremendous amount of pain that sent her back to seek medical attention for her condition.
Test results confirmed a diagnosis of Vibrio, a bacterium. The Alabama Department of Public Health confirmed it was the 30th case statewide this year.
Health officials warn that bacteria like this can enter the bloodstream through even the most minor cuts.
Experts emphasize that one of the key factors is catching infections like this as early as possible.
It can mean all the difference in the world.
