There is no way to say thank you to the men and women who put their lives on the line for this community every single day and night.

A simple "thank you" when you see them in public is much appreciated and a great start.

I'm certain that gesture makes them feel like the community appreciates the work they are doing.

A split second can mean the difference between life and death for many first responders in our area and across this country.

The last several years have averaged between 100 and 200 deaths of police officers in the USA.

It is a hazardous job. That is putting it mildly.

It's not just our men and women in law enforcement who face a very dangerous job each day.

Firefighters also put their lives on the line, and so do paramedics/EMTs.

They also save a ton of lives each and every year in West Alabama and the USA.

The least we can do is buy them a meal as a big thank you.

It is time for another "First Responders Lunch" at Jalepenos restaurant on Wednesday, September 24th.

The luncheon begins at 11 am and lasts until 1 pm at the Jalepenos on New Watermelon Road.

Jalepenos and Taylor Electrical in Tuscaloosa sponsor it.

The media partner is Townsquare Media Tuscaloosa, and the station is 95.3 The Bear.

The owner of Jalepenos restaurants, Jheovanny Gomez, has been committed to giving back to local first responders for years.

Gomez graciously picks up the tab for any/all first responders during this monthly event.

If you know a first responder in West Alabama, please let them know about this Wednesday.
