Happy Father’s Day to the incredible Dad’s across Alabama! Being that my best friend in life was my father, I can say that we really appreciate you.

My dad has been gone for 8 years now and I miss him every day. When I get sad or wish he was here to give me advice, I just remember the life lessons he taught me over the years even dating back to my childhood.

What do I miss most about my Dad?

If I had to pick one thing, it would be just being in his presence. He was such a great person with a laugh that could change the vibe instantly.

Our Daddy–Daughter dates were so much fun. Also, I can’t forget going to all those WWE matches with him too. I could do a podcast on the time we rode the elevator with the wrestler Stone Cold Steve Austin.

My Dad, Harold also known as “Bud” is one of the smartest people I know. You would have thought he had the highest form of education. However, he didn’t graduate high school, his mother had cancer and he had to quit to help pay down the medical bills from his mother’s surgeries and treatment.

That’s honorable. That’s Bud.

Pep talks were my dad’s thing.

He loved cake and milkshakes. [Who am I kidding, he loved anything sweet]

Need some motivation, he was your guy.

When I say he LOVED my Mother, he LOVED her!

He was the friendliest person you would ever meet.

Family, friends, coworkers, and even listeners of my show, simply loved Bud.

After talking to him, you felt like you could conquer anything.

His life lessons could be a little bit quirky at times too. Here is a handful of some of the advice he has offered up over the years.

My friends call them Mr. Bud-isms. One day I hope to write a book about his life, journey, and insight. Until then, here is a sneak peek.

“Always deliver more than expected.”

“Go in there and act like you already won.”

“When people make fun of you, consider yourself in good company; they made fun of Jesus too.”

"Serve it on a silver platter."

“Don’t always go when the light is green.”

“The best revenge is living a good life”

“Don’t let your gas go below a half a tank on long road trips.”

“When you climb the ladder, just know there is someone either below or above you cutting the steps out of your way.”

“If you are supposed to be number one at something, be #1 by a long shot.”

“Never stop reading; no one can take away your ability to learn.  And you don’t have to be in a classroom to learn.  Life is a learning lesson.”

“(when I got my first speeding ticket he said "Think of all the beautiful dresses you could have bought”

“Do you want to be a big fish in a small pond or a small fish in a big pond?”

Critical Life Lesson

One of the most important lessons I learned from my Dad is when dealing with people, family, friends, co-workers, and associates, you must guide your loyalty with this reminder:

“You are either for me or against me – there is NO in-between.”
