Difficult Words . . . .

Some time ago a company advertised a "huggable, washable, and talking" Jesus doll that recited "actual scripture verses to intoduce children of all ages to the wisdom of the Bible."

Jesus does offer a wonderful plan for our lives. However, he doesn't serve as a cosmic genie or cuddly doll to meet our whim. If we look in John 6 you can get a view of a Jesus who is not so cuddly, in fact, He's often offensive. Instead of fulfulling our selfish desires, He offers Himself as spirtual bread from heaven.

Sometimes we desire a Jesus who meets our selfish needs. But the great life He offers is found simply in radical obedience to His commands. The way of Jesus sis not always easy.
