Why Do Chocolate Chip Cookies Make You Happy?

Happy National Chocolate Chip Cookie Day!  What a great holiday!  A day dedicated to a cookie that universally makes us all happy.  I mean, unless you are allergic to chocolate.  It’s true and proven (in my mind) that chocolate chip cookies make you happy.  I do believe that there is an emotional attachment to chocolate chip cookies.  The owner of the Tate’s Bake Shop, Kathleen King, told CNN her feelings about chocolate chip cookies.  She believes that “a lot of it has to do with the connection to our past, whether it was a grandmother, a mother, a place visited, a summer home or family time. It's also usually the first cookie every child learned how to make, and so I think there's a tremendous emotional attachment and remembrance with the chocolate chip cookie.”

For me, I have an attachment to chocolate chip cookies from 1992 when I was an intern for a radio station in Orlando, Florida.  The radio station had an Otis Spunkmeyer baker over with an unlimited supply of cookie dough.  One of my zillion responsibilities as an intern was to bake chocolate chip cookies every mid-day.  [Talk about a hard internship]  The pleasant aroma would float across the office place.  I would have to bake cookies for salespeople to take to their sales meeting, and of course, I baked extra for the staff too.  Needless to say, I was THE favorite intern.  This all proves my point that chocolate chip cookies can make you happy.

Seriously, there is nothing else like a chocolate chip cookie.  I prefer my chocolate chip cookies, crunchy on the outside and with a chewy inside.  Here is a great recipe video of the chocolate chip cookie that is super easy to make from the Honeysuckle YouTube channel.
