SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – Now, only the game stands in front of them.

Alabama coach Nick Saban and Clemson coach Dabo Swinney met with reporters for the last time until after Monday night’s College Football Playoff National Championship game in a joint press conference Sunday morning.

The coaches, both of whom were escorted over to the JW Marriott Camelback Inn – where the press conference was held – from their own team hotels, took turns answering questions inside a packed ballroom.

Saban was asked about his final game coaching with Kirby Smart, who moves into a full-time role as Georgia’s head coach at the conclusion of the game, among other things, while a few of Swinney’s questions about his time as a player on the 1992 Alabama national championship team.

Overall, Saban was asked five questions compared to seven for Swinney. One question, not included, was addressed for both coaches. Saban also jumped in on the final question of the presser, regarding juniors weighing their NFL futures. Saban, as he’s said in the past, commented that he wishes the NFL would move the declare date back until the conclusion of that player’s season. Swinney agreed.
