Walmart Announces Plans to Close 8 Stores in Alabama
Walmart has announced plans to close 269 stores globally, including 154 in the United States. This means the loss of 16,000 jobs. Unfortunately, some of the stores set to close are in Alabama.
According to the company's corporate website, the following Walmart Express stores are set to be closed on Jan. 28, 2016:
#2173: 14331 Count Rd. 99, Headland, AL
#2011: 18 Apple Way, Ashford, AL
#2165: 952 E. Lawrence Harris Hwy, Slocomb, AL
#2186: 407 West Washington St., Abbeville, AL
#2235: 6361 Hwy 72 East Gurley, AL
#2260: 87395 US Hwy 278, Snead, AL
#3769: 3530 Cathedral Caverns Hwy, Grant, AL
#3779: 10188 Hwy 431 South, New Hope, AL
In addition, the Walmart Supercenter (#763) at 7201 Aaron Aronov Drive; Fairfield, AL will close on Jan. 28, 2016. (Time to keep a watchful eye out for rollbacks.)
