At Tuesday night's Tuscaloosa City Council meeting, Mayor Walt Maddox declared today as Tuscaloosa Purple Day, in effort of raising awareness for epilepsy.

Tuscaloosa resident Kevil Tice has been working tirelessly to bring awareness to this disease, as she lost a sister who lived with the disease. Tice has planned an epilepsy awareness fundraising event to be held at the Benjamin Barnes Branch YMCA this evening at 5:30. Participants will wear PURPLE clothing during a Hip Hop Aerobics class with TaNieka Wilson of Pretty Twisted.  Registration is $20, and a  FREE t-shirt will be included for the first 100 people to register.

But if you are wearing purple today, post a picture with the tag #TuscaloosaPurpleDay.
