AOK started this breast cancer walk in 2020 in remembrance of a fellow member LaKendria Stephens who passed away from breast cancer. The organization took it upon itself to start a movement to honor LaKendria Stephens and others who have lost their lives to breast cancer.

"This walk is to bring awareness to the community about breast cancer and to let them know that they’re not on this journey alone," said Jacnikia Cowan an advisor for AOK.

"Awareness for breast cancer needs to be spread to the community so that people can know how to approach the situation and go about it. Breast cancer is a serious disease and should be supported by everyone in society."

AOK is asking everyone in the community to wear pink and come out and walk with them to bring awareness to breast cancer and show the people affected that society cares.

Since 2007, AOK has been blazing the trail that others have strived to follow. AOK currently has 12 close-knit members and although the group is small, value is placed in quality, not quantity. Its members are passionate, dynamic, and dedicated to serving the Tuscaloosa community.

The walk will begin at 11a in Bowers park.
