Hale County Breast Cancer Walk Raises Funds for Alabama Warriors
October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and the Beautiful Star, 586A Order of the Eastern Star, in partnership with Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., Beta Alpha Upsilon Zeta Chapter of Hale County will host a walk to bring awareness and education about early detection of breast cancer and to help raise funds.
“When we raise our voices as one, we can all spread the word about the importance of breast cancer screening and raise funds to help researchers find better and effective treatment, decrease reoccurring cancer, and find a cure,” said Melinda King, President of Beta Alpha Upsilon Zeta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Incorporated.

According to the press release, “donations will be made to current local warriors battling breast cancer to assist with treatment needs, such as medications and transportation, and to the Susan G. Komen Foundation for breast cancer research.”
“It is important for our organization to spread breast cancer awareness because I believe it will help more women become aware and do the self-examinations and pay closer attention to their body, which will lead to early detection, that will lead to more lives to be saved,” said Sylvia Williams, Grand District Deputy of #14.
