Tuscaloosa New Year’s Eve Fireworks Show Canceled
The potential for strong winds and severe storms today in Tuscaloosa has forced the city to cancel its fireworks show.
The New Year's Eve event had been planned as part of the city's Bicentennial celebration that will last throughout 2019, but organizers announced on Sunday night that a decision had been made due to safety concerns.
The Holidays on the River skating rink will still be open at the Tuscaloosa Amphitheater from 2 - 6 p.m. although weather could be moving into the area sometime this afternoon.
Tuscaloosa 200 will celebrate the city's birthday all next year and some other big events have already been announced. A free concert featuring all-star Alabama musicians like Jason Isbell, St. Paul & the Broken Bones, and the Commodores is set for March 30. You can check out all of the events and learn more about Tuscaloosa 200 here.
