TORNADO WARNING Issued for Greene County Until 4:30PM
The National Weather Service in Birmingham has issued a TORNADO WARNING in effect for Greene County until 4:30 p.m.
The text of the warning is as follows:
The National Weather Service in Birmingham has issued a * Tornado Warning for... Central Greene County in west central Alabama... * Until 430 PM CDT. * At 335 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located near Gainesville, or 12 miles north of Livingston, moving northeast at 50 mph. HAZARD...Tornado. SOURCE...Radar indicated rotation. IMPACT...Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed. Damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur. Tree damage is likely. * Locations impacted include... Eutaw, Boligee, Union, Knoxville, Allison, West Greene, Snoddy, New Mount Hebron, I 20 Rest Area Near Eutaw, Eutaw Municipal Airport and Clinton. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... TAKE COVER NOW! Move to a basement or an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building. Avoid windows. If you are outdoors, in a mobile home, or in a vehicle, move to the closest substantial shelter and protect yourself from flying debris.
