Stillman College To Host Sickle Cell Relief Blood Drive

Major shoutout to the people over at Stillman College. Amid the pandemic, they continue to find ways to help others.

As I was scrolling through Instagram, I found a new opportunity for Stillman College students to help others and get community service hours.

Stillman College will host a Sickle Cell Relief Blood Drive on Jan.27th, 2021 10:30 am - 3:30 pm. The blood drive will be located in the Hay Center on Stillman's campus. All donors will be tested for COVID-19 antibodies. The best part about this blood drive is that each student who participates will get 5 community service hours! Anyone who's been in college knows that those community service hours are like gold! Lol!

I love the fact that Stillman College is helping the Sickle Cell Warriors. My wife actually has Sickle Cell disease so I know first hand how much pain it causes people. According to the American Red Cross, there is no widely used cure for sickle cell disease. People who suffer from the disease often encounter severe pain, respiratory conditions, organ failure, and even stroke. It's really a scary situation whenever my wife is in pain due to Sickle Cell because at any moment the pain can escalate and she'd have to be rushed to the Blood transfusions help decrease that pain and some patients need transfusions monthly. In this time of COVID-19, Sickle Cell warriors need blood now more than ever.

If any students are interested in taking part in this blood drive, you can schedule an appointment at RedCrossBlood.Org. When you visit the site, use the code STILLMAN.
