Prisoner Escapes Near Birmingham

(AP) Alabama Department of Corrections officials are searching for 46-year-old John Edward Sharpe, who left an assigned job location Monday afternoon.

Sharpe, who was sentenced to 20 years on a robbery charge, left the job location wearing his state whites (prisoner's uniform). He is 5'8" and said to be 176 lbs with brown hair and green eyes.  Identifiable tattoos include a skull, a cross, and the name April.
