Tuscaloosa City Schools, along with Townsquare Media Tuscaloosa, Legal Services of Alabama and Child Abuse Prevention Services, will highlight and recognize Rising Star Character Students of the Month from each school in the district during the 2022-2023 school year. Each month, two to three outstanding TCS students will be highlighted in this series.

Jessica Carlisle wraps up the 2022-2023 inaugural Rising Star Character Student of the Month series, representing University Place Elementary School.

Carlisle was presented with the award during University Place's April Leadership Assembly on Friday. She said she was excited to be recognized for her efforts of showing good character both inside and outside of the classroom.

"I exhibit good character by doing my work and finishing it efficiently so that other students in my class can follow after me," Carlisle said. "I help people around the school and do my work in the classroom."

Carlisle is a member of University Place's math and robotics team and participated in the school's spelling bee.

Carlisle said her favorite subject is math and hopes to one day attend college to become a business woman.

"I hope I get accepted to Harvard when I get ready to go to college," Carlisle said.
