STEAM Camp Returns to Shelton State This Summer
If you’ve got a student who loves to build, create, or just stay curious, Shelton State Community College has something worth checking out this summer.
The college is bringing back its STEAM Summer Camp, giving students five full days of hands-on learning across science, technology, engineering, art, and math. The camp runs July 20 through July 24, 2026, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day on Shelton State’s Martin Campus.

This isn’t the type of camp where kids just sit and listen. It’s built around interactive, real-world experiences designed to get students thinking, creating, and solving problems in a way that actually sticks.
The program is open to students entering grades 3 through 12, with groups broken down by age to make sure everyone gets the right level of instruction. There are only 40 spots available for grades 3 through 5, 25 spots for grades 6 through 8, and just 10 spots for high school students, so space is limited.

Sessions will be led by school system employees, giving students the chance to learn from educators who are already experienced in the classroom.
The cost is $150 per student, due at registration.
If you’re looking for something productive, educational, and actually fun for your kids this summer, this might be one of the better options in West Alabama.
