Alabama State Moves Homecoming Game Due to Weather Concerns
Alabama State University is making major changes to its Homecoming weekend schedule, including moving its highly anticipated football matchup against Florida A&M University.
University officials announced that the Hornets' Homecoming football game against the Rattlers will now be played Friday, Oct. 9, 2026, with kickoff scheduled for approximately 11 a.m.

The game was originally scheduled as part of the university's traditional Homecoming weekend festivities, but officials decided to adjust the schedule while closely monitoring weather conditions.
In addition to moving the football game, Alabama State announced that all other Homecoming activities scheduled between Friday and Sunday have been rescheduled. Additional details about the new dates and times will be announced later.
The university also confirmed a broadcasting change for the matchup.
Instead of airing on HBCU GO TV, the Alabama State and Florida A&M game will now be broadcast on SWAC TV, with Jared Oliver and Vaughn Wilson providing commentary.
"The safety and well-being of Hornet Nation remain our highest priority," the university said in its announcement.
Officials say they will continue monitoring weather conditions and evaluating any potential impacts on campus activities.
The schedule change affects one of Alabama State's most anticipated annual celebrations, which traditionally brings alumni, students and supporters together for several days of festivities surrounding the Homecoming football game.
Students, alumni and fans planning to attend are encouraged to follow Alabama State University's official website and social media platforms for the latest updates before traveling to campus.
The university's announcements list both 11 a.m. and 11:05 a.m. as the updated kickoff time
