Church & Community Outreach Addresses Needs of West Tuscaloosa
The Church & Community Outreach Program of Tuscaloosa is a group of local citizens that are working through grassroots efforts to create a positive difference in Tuscaloosa.
On Saturday, May 20, they are collaborating with 12 churches and organizations to hit the streets to address the needs of those living in Hay Court, McKenzie Court, Creek Wood Apartments, and from 18th Street to 25th Street.
The main goal of the walk-thru on the west side of Tuscaloosa is to distribute information door-to-door that community members can use. “Information will be shared about various church efforts, habitat roofing, hazardous and environmental information like lead, and mold,” said Deborah Minor, the program coordinator.
Also, the “group will be gathering information from the people who actually live in the communities on how they see their areas. Asking questions about what improvement they would like to see and starting the conversations about crime and safety.”
Event coordinators asked that the public be on the lookout for various organizations on Saturday and you can identify the group by the blue bags they will be carrying during the walk-thru.
