Risk of Excessive Rainfall in Portions of Alabama This Weekend
This weekend, you can expect rounds of heavy rainfall that may lead to isolated flooding. The National Weather Service in Birmingham said that the “highest rainfall amounts, ranging from 2 to 4 inches, are forecast to accumulate across the northern half of Central Alabama, and locally higher amounts could result in isolated flash flooding.”
“The most heaviest and most widespread rain Saturday will be over the northern half of the state, and on Sunday over Central and South Alabama,” said James Spann, ABC 33/40, and Townsquare Media Tuscaloosa Chief Meteorologist.

In addition, the continuation of rain is expected on Monday, with the possibility of a few strong thunderstorms as a surface low moves northward across Tennessee.
Spann said that at the moment, the “risk of severe storms looks low with very limited surface-based instability.”
