
Heat Index Continues to Climb Across Alabama
Alabamians have been facing hot temperatures and high humidity, which can lead to heat-related illnesses.

The National Weather Service in Birmingham has issued a Heat Advisory for Thursday, July 17, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Heat index values could reach up to 106 degrees.
West Alabama Counties Under the Heat Advisory

Although other West Alabama counties are not under an advisory, it will still be quite hot and humid. You can expect “partly sunny, hot, and humid with a few scattered, mainly afternoon storms,” said James Spann, ABC 33/40, and Townsquare Media Tuscaloosa Chief Meteorologist.

Never leave young children or pets unattended in vehicles under any circumstances.
Drink plenty of fluids.
Stay in an air-conditioned room.

Learn the signs of heat exhaustion and stroke.
Wear lightweight, loose clothing.
