Many voiced their opinions and stated why one of these teams should or shouldn't be in over the other. Ultimately, the selection show revealed that Alabama snagged the No.11 seed, leaving Ole Miss and South Carolina out of this inaugural 12-team playoff format.

The reveal ignited a flurry of reactions on social media, with many taking various platforms to voice their opinions. Notably, Ole Miss quarterback Jaxson Dart joined the conversation, suggesting a play-in game between Alabama and Ole Miss, with the winner earning a playoff berth.

The decision to include Alabama over No.13 Ole Miss and No.14 South Carolina was influenced by several factors, making Alabama the only three-loss team in the top 12 (should that remain).

Brandon Walker from Barstool Sports also chimed in on the social media debate, explaining why Alabama was chosen over Ole Miss and South Carolina. "I hate Alabama. But if the discussions for the final spot were to come down to the 3-loss SEC teams, the choice was easy. SC lost to both, they're out. And Bama just has a better resume than Ole Miss. Don't know where this crazy media push for SC came from," said Walker.

Since the inception of the college football playoffs, a play-in game has never been considered, yet many on social media are advocating for its introduction.
