Early in the 2015 college football season, ESPN's College Gameday aired a feature on Alabama kicker Adam Griffith and his journey from Poland to Tuscaloosa.

That short video, which was entitled Adam Griffith: Family Ties, has been nominated for the 'Outstanding Sports Feature' Emmy Award. The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences announced the list of nominees for the 37th Annual Sports Emmy® Awards on Thursday.

Born to an alcoholic mother and a father in prison, Griffith was forced to move into an orphanage, where he began smoking at age six and drinking by age 10. A Georgia couple adopted him and brought him to the United States 10 years ago, where he became a star kicker in high school and eventually the starter for Nick Saban.

His first four years in Tuscaloosa have been marked by the highest highs and the lowest lows. On just his third career field goal attempt as a freshman backup, Griffith missed the 57-yard attempt that was returned for a touchdown by Auburn.

Even last season, he began the year missing nine of his first 12 field goals attempts, Griffith finished the season making 17 of his final 20. But he capped off the national championship season by executing a perfect onside kick against Clemson.

He now enters his senior season as one of Alabama's most experienced players and part of a strong special teams unit that should be one of the Crimson Tide's strengths in 2016.
