Students and members of the community are invited to attend the vigil, which will be held from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at the Gorgas Library on the campus of the University of Alabama tonight.

Here's more from the event's Facebook page:

Reeling from the tremendous loss suffered at the Pulse Orlando nightclub early this morning, students at the University of Alabama are reaching out to one another for support. Student organizations will host a candlelight vigil on campus tomorrow, June 13, from 7:30 to 9:30pm. We hope this will provide the community, including especially those of UA’s family who are LGBTQ, an opportunity to join together in love and somber reflection on the lives lost and the healing ahead. Standing on the steps of Gorgas Library, a monument to our collective efforts to progress in understanding, we will light the darkened sky with our candles; together, we will affirm our commitment to celebrate the beauty of our diversity and achieve a more just and peaceful world. Please light a candle and join us in refusing to be silent in the face of this shameful assault.

Several of the student associations who have banded together to organize the vigil have already raised their voices. Join your voice to ours and we will raise a call for love to conquer hate that cannot be ignored.

UPDATE: NO OPEN FLAME CANDLES WILL BE ALLOWED AT THE VIGIL.

According to post on the event's Facebook page, open flame candles are prohibited at the Gorgas Library. LED Candles, provided by UA Student Affairs, will be lining the steps of Gorgas Library. No open flame candles will be allowed at the event this evening.
