Birmingham Alabama Records First Homicide
The city of Birmingham recorded its first homicide of 2016 less than three hours into the new year.
Local media outlets report that police were called to a house in southwest Birmingham at 2:30 a.m. on Friday. Authorities indicate a man at the scene told them that he mistakenly shot a 33-year-old female because she refused to leave his house.
Police have not released the man's name. They further stated that he would be held and placed on a 48-hour hold while they continue to investigate the case.
