Are You A Avid Reader?

It is widely believed that what we read and study is what we become. When we carry the right books with us, we maintain a continuous flow of truth and information into our heart and mind. Reading discourages  unproductive conversation. You should always be ready to share your faith and minister to the actual needs of others. Have you ever sat beside someone who could not stop talking? Most people that enjoy talking do not require anything significant to prompt them. These individuals talk just to avoid silence, when you keep a book near, it solves the problem. Keep a list of books you desire to read each day or month. This prevents unwise selections in moments of boredom, temptation, or fatigue. At the beginning of each year, select fifty(50) or so  books you would like to read by the end of the year. When you travel carry books. When you are away from the busyness of your daily schedule, you can withdraw into your own private space. You can dream, focus, and plan. In mentoring Timothy, Paul write: "Give attention to reading ...Do not neglect the gift that is in you ...Meditate on these things; give yourself entirely to them, that your progress may be evident to all" (1Timothy 4:13-15). Of all the books to read, you should read your Bible - and it's the one you should read most. However, read other books also, because God is the source of all true wisdom and knowledge. "Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom. And in all your getting, get understanding" (Proverbs 4:7).
