Alabama One of Five States To Vote On Slavery in 2022
It's hard to believe that in the year 2022, slavery still hasn't been abolished nationwide in the United States.

Yes.
You read that correctly.
Alabama is set to vote on slavery in an upcoming November election.
Anyone who knows American history would assume slavery has long been abolished in the United States. As a result of the Civil War, slavery in America was technically abolished.
The 13th Amendment did away with slavery in the United States but with one specific clause.
"Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction."
According to Archives.Gov, the 13th Amendment allows slavery only as a punishment for crime.
This means that technically, slavery is still allowed in the United States.
According to a post from So Informed on Instagram, Alabama is one of five states set to vote on removing the involuntary servitude clause from their state constitutions.
With Alabama's long history with slavery, I'd think that this is something that would've been handled years ago.
Did you know this was still allowed in the Yellow Hammer state?
Hopefully, we do our part and show up at the polls to remove this clause from our state's constitution.
Although I do believe someone should pay for their crimes, slavery isn't the way to repay a debt.
