Coach Patrick Murphy and the Alabama softball team enjoyed a successful afternoon in a doubleheader against the North Carolina Tar Heels to get to 13-0 on the season.

The first matchup, which ended 2-0 was defined by a no-hitter from Lexi Kilfoyl, who also added an RBI. The first run of the day came off the bat of Bailey Hemphill, who hit an absolute moonshot to left-centerfield to put the Tide up 1-0 early. Kilfoyl finished with 8 strikeouts on the day in her no-hit effort.

The second game was started and finished by Montana Fouts. Fouts pitched a complete game allowing just two hits and striking out 12.

On offense, Alexis Mack led the way for the Tide, going 2-3 with two RBIs. Elissa Brown also added an RBI single of her own on her senior day.

Alabama first got on the board in the bottom of the 4th inning on a controversial call. Kaylee Tow led the inning off with a rip of a double over the center fielder's head, and Lexi Kilfoyl then reached first on an infield single where she appeared to be out. The throw from UNC shortstop Skyler Brooks pulled first basemen Kiersten Licea off the bag, allowing Kilfoyl to beat the throw. During the confusion, Tow came around third base and scored to make it 1-0 and begin a four-run inning for the Crimson Tide.

UNC, a very talented team, played fantastic defense throughout both games to keep the Tide offense relatively at bay as the team only mustered 12 hits through two games. Unfortunately for the Tar Heels, the combination of Lexi Kilfoyl and Montana Fouts was too much for them to handle as they only combined for two hits.

Alabama will wrap up the Easton Crimson Classic Sunday in a 1 p.m. matinee game against Troy.
