In a recent study published by Yahoo! Travel using data compiled from the NTSB and the Federal Highway Administration revealed that Alabama ranked fifth among the states where drivers are most likely to be involved in a fatal traffic accident.

3.8 million of the Alabama's 4.8 million residents are licensed drivers and of those have a one in 5,673 probability of dying in a car crash. One in 2,889 chance of being involved in a fatal car crash.

The top five most dangerous states were Montana, Mississippi, North Dakota, West Virginia and Alabama while D.C., Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York and Rhode Island were the the states where drivers were least likely to die in a car crash.
