In today's world there are so many things that are grabbing our attention and have a sometimes even overwhelmed. With the start of school and the fall during a pandemic so many people feel like they're losing their minds. I have some tips to help you relax your mind as we finish out the rest of the year. In Tuscaloosa, there are many parks and private spaces to meditate and relax. However, home is always the best place to use the tips below.

Practice meditation. Meditation allows you to focus on what's important and to block out any distractions and unnecessary things that may be hindering your peace of mind. Take time out each morning to meditate and to focus on what task that you need to complete for the day. I would even recommend you do this at night before you go to sleep as well. The more you meditate the more successful you will be.

Unplug from social media. Social media has consumed our lives forcing us to have to check our phones laptops computers and devices on a constant basis. Many times, we feel as we have to keep up with the news and even things that really don't even matter. It's okay to take a sabbatical from social media for at least a day. Do we remember what it was like to live without social media? Detoxify yourself from all the negativity of social media and you will see yourself in a whole more relaxed zone. It's okay to take a social media vacation every now and then.

Soak in a hot bath. Take time out each day for yourself by taking a hot relaxing bath not a shower. Showers tend to rush our cleaning processes. A warm bath can open up your pores and allow your body to distress while at the same time cleansing your mind and helping you get a better night's sleep. Try a day spa as well.

Write a journal. Writing is very therapeutic and allows you to put your thoughts on paper. Also, it allows you to be able to release your thoughts and feelings. You can share these thoughts with your spouse or friends, or you can keep them to yourself.

Take slow deep breaths. One popular technique is to breathe in for 4 seconds and hold your breath for 7 seconds. Then gently push out the breath for 8 seconds and repeat up to four times. Breathing allows us to reset ourselves and to allow calm and peaceful vibes into our space.
