You Must Possess Faith . . .
You Must Possess Faith
Faith is an absolute must. What does that mean for each of us? Is any faith good faith? You should believe in yourself and all that you are, Know that there is something inside you that is much greater than any obstacle that you may encounter. That all sounds great but it falls short when it crashes with reality. You need a faith in something bigger than yourself.
We find in the Bible that God promised Abram he would have a multitude of descendants (Genesis 15:4-5), so he faced a large obstacle, he was old and childless. When he and Sarah got tired of waiting for God to make good on His promise, they tried to overcome that obstacle on their own. They fractured their family and created unnecessary dissension (Genesis 16). Nothing that Abraham did in his own strength worked. Ultimately he became the father of many nations, just as it had been said, 'So shall your offspring be'(Romans 4:18). Abraham's faith was in something much bigger than himself, the one and only God. It's the object of our faith that makes all the difference.
Abraham did not waver through unbelief regarding the promise of God, but was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God (Romans 4:18). We should desire a strong faith in God, not just faith in ourselves or one's abilities or in others We are nothing without God.
