You Can Recover . . .

Are you struggling with a habit like Drugs, Alcohol, Gambling, Pornography? There is great news. Jesus said  that He came "that captives will be released" ( Luke 4:18). You can recover. You can return the condition as it was before you became addicted, or something even better. You can achieve this by doing two things David did when the Amalekites destroyed his home and took his family away: (1). He turned to God for strength. David made himself strong in the Lord. Let's be realistic: If you could solve the problem yourself you'd have done it long ago. Recognizing your powerlessness is the first step to victory. Being aware that it is not the same as giving in to defeat and despair. It simply means that you can't, but God can, and will when you surrender to Him. (2). He turned to God for a solution. David inquired of the Lord if he should pursue the Amalekites? Should he overtake them? The answer was that he would overtake them without fail.  David was relentless: he didn't stop until he recovered everything that the enemy had taken. That should be your attitude also. You say that you have failed so many times. The Bible says, "Though the righteous fall seven times, they rise again" (Pr.24:16). Because your righteousness is not earned by your performance, it is transferred to you through Christ's performance on the cross. Knowing that will give you the faith and courage to pursue, overtake, and recover all taken from you and snap back into reality.
