Yes, You Are Important . . .

There is a story told about a conductor who was rehearsing his orchestra. The organ was giving out beautiful melodies, the drums were thundering, the trumpets were blasting and the violins were humming. However, the conductor noticed that something was missing - the piccolo. The piccolo player had gotten distracted and hoped his instrument would not be missed. The conductor reminded him that each instrument was important.

This was basically the same message Paul communicated to the Corinthian believers in the first letter to them (1Corinthians 12:4-7). Each Christian plays an important role in the body of Christ. Paul issued a list of gifts of the Spirit and compared their use to the functioning of the various parts of the human body for the good of the whole The Corinthian believers may have possessed different cultural backgrounds, gifts, and personalities, but they were filled with the same Spirit and belonged to the same body of Christ. Paul made special mention of the parts of the body that were weak and obscure, and taught that all believers play an important role. You must realize that no one part is more important, necessary nor significant than any other.

Remember, Jesus has given each of us a significant part to play and will use us to build up His people. As a member of the body of Christ you are a necessary part of the whole. This is a new day. God has given us this day to use as we will. We can waste it or use it for good. What we do today is important, and we are important, because we are swapping a day of our life for it. When tomorrow arrives, this day will be history, leaving in its place something that we traded for it, and we certainly want it to be a gain.
