No matter your political beliefs, history will be made on Wednesday, January 20, 2021. Regardless of your personal opinion of Kamala Harris, the fact remains, she will make history. Women around the globe are rejoicing at this accomplishment.  

How will Kamala Harris make history? She will be the first woman to become the Vice President of the United States. Honestly, I thought I would never see this happen in my lifetime. Needless, to say I’m enjoying this moment with many other women in America. I realize that some are not, and I respect that.  

It might be time to dig a little deeper into what this truly means. USA Today notes that “Harris’ victory is not only a win for women — of all colors, nationalities and party affiliations.” Let’s face the hard truth that women of all colors and nationalities in America are often overlooked.

Women across the United States are being encouraged to wear pearls on Inauguration Day. It is a sign of the support of Kamala Harris. Leading the charge is a visible but private Facebook group that requires approval for admittance. “Wear Pearls on Jan 20th, 2021” has over 400K members. The Facebook group is about “Empowered Women Empowering Women Supporting a Woman. We want as many women and young ladies to wear their pearls on the Inauguration Day of the first WOMAN VP in the history of these United States. It is open to ALL Women.”
