The Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSSA) will host its north central regional softball tournament on May 9 & 10 at Sokol Park. Games will begin at 8:00 am both days.

Forty-eight teams will advance from the AHSAA area playoffs to play in the north central regional tournament. The teams have not been named yet because the area tournaments are not finished. The regional winner and runner-up from each of the six classifications will go on to play in the state championship in Montgomery on May 15th & 16th. The tournament is set-up as a double elimination tournament. So once the team loses two games, it will not be eligible to win the tournament.

Tuscaloosa Tourism and Sports Commission CEO Gina Simpson states,

We are thrilled to host the AHSSA regional tournament in Tuscaloosa. Not only does it give us an opportunity to show off our wonderful city, but it is also an opportunity for our residents to enjoy watching great high school athletes. High school sports provide a unique competitive environment for our youth, and it is an honor to support them.

Gulf Shores, Troy and Huntsville will be hosting the other three AHSSA regional tournaments at the same time. For more information on the north central regional softball tournament visit ahssa.com.

Spectator tickets are $8 per person per day.
