Tuscaloosa Pastor of the Week: Pastors Josh and Hope Wyatt
Pastors Josh and Hope Wyatt are the dynamic leaders of Victorious Life Church (VLC), a vibrant and growing congregation just outside of Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Married for nearly six years, the Wyatts are proud parents of two young boys, Trey (Joshua Gordon Wyatt III) and Sam (Samuel David Wyatt). Both Josh and Hope are graduates of Rhema Bible Training College in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, and are ordained through Rhema Ministerial Association International.
Pastor Josh’s journey in ministry began early. Raised in a family deeply rooted in faith, he felt the call to ministry at a young age. His grandparents founded Victorious Life Church in Moundville in 1998, and by the time he was 16, Pastor Josh was already traveling full-time, preaching at churches, conferences, revivals, and camp meetings. His passion for spreading the gospel has taken him far and wide, but his heart remains with the church his grandparents built.
In September 2023, Pastor Josh took the helm of VLC, and under his leadership, the church has seen remarkable growth. In just one year, the congregation has doubled in size, with over 100 members now calling VLC their spiritual home. Pastor Josh’s vision for VLC is clear: “VLC is a home for the homeless. If you’ve been hurt, wounded, shamed, or put down by life or by other well-meaning Christian people, then this place is your home, so welcome home!”
Beyond his pastoral duties, Pastor Josh is deeply involved in community outreach. He teaches weekly at a faith-based addiction recovery center and dedicates much of his time to mentoring young men through his one-on-one mentorship program and VLC’s men’s ministry. Each March, he hosts the annual Men’s Conference, “Man to Man,” which draws participants from across the region. Additionally, Pastor Josh leads the School of The Word, offering 6-8 week courses on various biblical topics, open to the entire community.
Pastor Josh’s ministry extends internationally, having preached in Honduras, Mexico, and Russia. This fall, he will be ministering in Kenya, where he will preach in churches and teach at a Bible college that trains future ministers.
An accomplished author, Pastor Josh has written three books: The Flip Side, a guide on finding balance in life; Yes… We Speak in Tongues, a biblical exploration of the baptism of the Holy Spirit; and Fight the Right Fight, his latest work on spiritual warfare. Despite his many accomplishments, Pastor Josh finds his greatest fulfillment in his role as a father. He often says, “If I never pastor a mega church or write a New York Times best seller, but I raise respectful men who love God and love me and their mom, then I’m a success!”
