There is nothing more I love than helping the community. I love the fact that Shelton State & Chesapeake Consulting, Inc. will be hosting this free community event.

Come out to the McDonald Hughes Community Center on July 21st, 2021 from 10a-4p for the Tuscaloosa CommUnity event. This event is completely free and open to the public. It's a chance for communities to unite for food, fun, fellowship, and useful services.

Shelton State Men's Head Basketball Coach Joe Eatmon was instrumental in establishing this event. It started as an idea where a guy Dan McCormack came to me and asked for my help with me being specifically from West Tuscaloosa," Joe said. "It actually started out as he just wanted me to bring my basketball team to do a dunk contest to entertain the crowd. It's blown up to where now it's a college fair, a health fair, a job fair, and entertainment all under one roof in the same day."

The Tuscaloosa CommUnity event is something I think the west end of Tuscaloosa needs. There will be live music and plenty of entertainment.  The University of Alabama will have its Men's basketball team at the event for a dunk contest along with Stillman College and Shelton State. There will also be a 3-point shooting contest, a home run contest on the baseball field, and more!

There will even be opportunities for people to walk away with a new job. There will be people hiring on the spot. Opportunities for medical care and consultation will be provided by Five Horizons, Good Samaritan Clinic, Choices Pregnancy Clinic, and the Tuscaloosa Office of the Alabama Department of Public Health. Screenings will be available for a number of conditions, and ADPH and Walgreens will be on hand to give FREE COVID Vaccinations (Pfizer.)

The organizers of the event are searching for people who have a heart for the community.  If you or someone you know would like to volunteer, use this link to sign up.
