The SEC made a final decision on the spring athletic season. The conference announced that the rest of the spring season will indeed be cancelled. This includes SEC Championship events and spring football games. There was previous hope that the SEC might resume competition after a hiatus when SEC commissioner appeared surprised at the NCAA's decision to mandate the discontinuation of the athletic season.

Commissioner Greg Sankey appeared surprised to learn the news that the NCAA was not only cancelling the men's and women's basketball championships but also the spring athletic season. Sankey said the conference would explore options to continue its season regardless of the NCAA's decision.

The situation developed and the conference mandated that no spring football or team activities would be allowed to be held until April 15. A Day, the Alabama Spring Game, was scheduled to take place April 18. There was hope that Alabama might be able to move the spring game and still hold the spring scrimmage.

Today the SEC announced there would in face be no spring sports and no spring football games for the public.
