What is the most money you've ever paid for your or a family member's medication? I know for a fact that medicines can go upwards to 1000s and 1000s of dollars.

It seems like nobody is ever doing anything about it. I remember when I had COVID and needed some medication. The price tag came out to be about $300 and I only had about three different prescriptions.

Luckily, I was in a position where I could afford it at that time. Honestly, I haven't always been in a position where I could.

I also know that that's not something that I could do on a regular basis. I can only imagine people with life-threatening illnesses, who need to have medications and those things are costing $700 for six pills.

Well, it seems that you can now get medications relatively cheaper than usual right here in Tuscaloosa. It's all thanks to Mark Cuban.

Mark Cuban started a company called Cost Plus Drug Company to help people have access to affordable medications. On the website, it says that Cuban started the business because every American should have access to safe, affordable medicines. If you don't have insurance or a high deductible plan, you know that even the most basic medications can cost a fortune.

That is something that I know to be true through experience. And I've heard so many stories of other people who've gone through it as well. The way that Cost Plus Drug company works is they take the base price of a drug and add on the actual cost which is $3 that their pharmacy partners charge to them to prepare and provide the prescription for customers.

Cost Plus Drug Company's prices are far lower than the pricing available in the marketplace.

While looking on the site, I've seen drugs that usually cost a retail price of over $1,000  listed for just under $60. Another medication that tops $6,000 is on sale on the website for $453.

Those are huge savings and it's for things that people definitely need like anti-viral prescriptions, birth control, blood thinners, breast cancer medications, cancer medications, dementia, diabetes, kidney disease, low blood pressure, mental health,  and Parkinson's disease. The list is massive.

You could search medications on the website through a brand name or a generic name or you could just search by health condition.

The site states that as the company grows, the costs will go down and they will always pass along the savings to the customer. Have you ever heard of this company? Is it something that you think is needed? Feel free to take a look at the site yourself by clicking here.
