With summer being practically halfway over, it's time to start thinking about the upcoming school year and planning any end-of-summer vacations. Since many consumers take advantage of Back-to-School sales and tax holidays, it's probably a good idea to let you in on upcoming sales tax holidays for Alabama and other states in the Southeast.

Alabama's sales tax holiday has been set for August 7-9.  All clothing and shoes priced at or under $100 per item will be included as well as computers and hardware/software costing $750 or less per item and school supplies costing $50 or less per item. Full list.

Should you happen to visit Georgia the previous weekend, you can take advantage of their sales tax holiday, which runs from July 31 through August 1. Their sale is similar to ours, with clothing and footwear limits of $100 per item, but their limit for computers and computer components is $1,000; school supplies are limited to $20 per item. More details.

For the state of Mississippi, the sales tax holiday will be July 31 through August 1, and the same $100 limit applies to clothing and shoes. (For as many sites as I've checked, it seems that clothing and footwear are the only items for which the tax holiday apply.)

Hopefully, this will help you plan accordingly both for shopping and weekend trips.
