Mayor Walt Maddox Officially Bans Use Of Tobacco Products On City Property

Tuscaloosa citizens and visitors will no longer be allowed to use any tobacco products on property belonging to the city.

An executive order was issued by Tuscaloosa Mayor Walt Maddox Wednesday morning officially banning the use tobacco, including smokeless tobacco and e-cigarettes at all City of Tuscaloosa facilities effective January 1, 2016.

The only unaffected areas will be pre-existing designated smoking areas at the Tuscaloosa Amphitheater and the city’s parks. According to the executive order no new smoking areas will be established.

According to a city spokeswoman the policy will affect all facilities, grounds, vehicles and parking areas owned by leased or rented by the City of Tuscaloosa.
